Lurid early summer Boletus
The lurid boletus - which can grow quite large, the cap up to 20cm !
There are two forms of this mushroom - the Lurid - B. Luridus and, a similar mushroom the B. luridiformis previously called - B. erythropus.
The mushroom when cut has lemon flesh and yellow/greentubes which quickly discolour to blue when cut. B. Luridus has a red line between the flesh and the tubes.
It is edible when cooked...but I think it wouldn't add much to the dining experience.
